Chapter Twenty Six - The Stake of Fire

It was nearly noon. The entire city had gathered in Shrom Square, what seemed like a heart-part of the kingdom. There was a huge platform in the center of the square which was mostly used for special events and festivals. But on occasions like this, it was also built for executions. There was a huge wooden stake in the center of the platform and all around it were heaps of coal. Decay was chained to the stake, laughing and giggling to himself. Aira still couldn't figure out why.

She looked at the rest of her kingdom. Her sister and father flanking her. "People of Shrombolia!" she spoke loudly, "today we gather after a very gruesome battle. We have found a traitor in our midst... Decay! Royal adviser of the royal family..." she said pointing back at the chained figure. There were many shocked murmurs throughout the crowds. "He is the reason for all of this bloodshed! During a recent confrontation we figured out that he taught Prince Lovian the Dark Magic, during his childhood. He is the reason Lovian went off to Dark Mountain and became Lord Mallis... He is the reason for so many deaths!"

The crowd began booing and shouting angrily, many yelling "KILL HIM!" and "GET ON WITH IT!"
Aira looked at Decay. "Do you have any final words? Traitor..." she said. Decay laughed out loud. His voice suddenly became so warped it boomed out like a thunderstorm. It could be heard from miles around and shook the very ground beneath them.

"You inferior imbeciles! Your squandering has been tolerated long enough! Now a truly superior people has risen, birthed from Dark Mountain. They will save our world from this horrific age of civil war and crime! Sin at its strongest is the blood of these lands and rushed throughout like water in the sea... To expel it we need a true hero, one who will erect an army and purge out the evil in this land. Lord Mallis is this world's savior! Prostrate yourselves to his deific, deathless power!" he said. He growled at them. "It's always coldest near the ice! The chill of the source of the evil hardest at its core! It's hottest amongst the coals, but the ice that seethes into your soul is the coldest you shall fine! Always, always, always coldest near the ice!"The people began to angrily shout back at him as he cackled. Aira finally gave signal to the soldiers as they lit like torches and threw them onto the goals.

The coals began to light up quickly and the fire spread fast. Especially as one of Liphola's apprentices began spraying them magically with fire from his palms. Decay laughed and laughed. Finally the fires wrapped around him, seething into him. But strangely... they didn't harm him. The chains around him somehow busted and splattered into steam as the form of Decay stepped forward, still engrossed in flames. His form suddenly changed a different color. His clothes writhed around him and suddenly turned away into skin. His body grew several feet taller as his skin boiled into a strange black color that looked as though a liquid. His eyes transformed to a shade of purplish yellow and spikes emerged all over his body. Two enormous dragonic wings shot from his backsidel casting a shadow over the crowd as they gasped in the horror.

Decay grew long claws on the ends of his hands and feet and with a might roar he lifted off into the air and vanished into the clouds swirling above.

Aira and Drane looked at each other. Drane's eyes were watery. "Aira... What are we going to do?"

"I... I--I don't know. Do we go to High Hill tonight?" she asked.
"It's a trap" Drane replied. "We... We can't go."

"But if we don't we'll risk this entire kingdom..." Aira said. Drane thought for a moment. Finally she spoke.

"Alright, we'll go then... But we'll have to be very careful" she said. Aira nodded

Chapter Twenty Seven - Midnight

There was a terrible wind in the air which rattled the trees and bent them where they stood. It made a loud swoosh sound as it scraped the hillsides. Aira and Drane both took the lead in front of a large group of soldiers. They walked up a long trail lined by many trees with glowing flowers on them. Many of the flowers were bright white or purple, sometimes green. Soon they had reached the very top of the hill. The top was a large, flat clearing lined with many stones and large rocks. A few boulders on the opposite side of the clearing that acted as borders. The moon was full and it was high in the sky with the fresh flavor of midnight. Aira and Drane were both extremely nervous. Just a simple look at Aira's eyes would describe entirely her fear. Drane was equally afraid.

Suddenly the sky above thundered. Black clouds were hiding behind the natural, gray ones darkened by the cloak of the night. These ones rumbled with the fierce power of the Darkness and all its children.

Suddenly a black column of smoke shot onto the ground and as it dissipated it revealed standing in it a tall, feminine Darkling. It was Mistress. Her ravenous purple eyes were menacing slits with anger at the upcoming enemies. Her gaze fixed on them like a crosshair.
"I was certain you wouldn't be as bold as to arrive. I was hoping you'd refuse. It would have been so much more food for us" she said.

"What does my brother want?" asked Aira. Mistress giggled.

"He wants your complete and eternal surrender. Allow his forces to come into your city, allow them to drink from your empire" Mistress said.

"Absolutely not!" Aira said. Mistress formed a scowl. Her eyes made a fateful glare of evil.
"There is another option... sacrifise the entire royal family in return for guaranteed safety of all of your kingdom" said Mistress.

"No! I would never do that either!" Aira said.

Mistress raised a "brow" with question. "You'd risk all of your people over your puny little family?"

"Shut up!" Drane said. Mistress scowled. A loud flow of wind came through the hillside. The dark deputy of Mallis swam in the air, toward Drane and eventually stood directly in front of her.
"You will NOT order me" she growled. Aira stood between her and her sister.
"Listen, I'm sure there's another way we could work this out" she said.
"I have Mallis's orders. He wants one of the two things. That is it" she said.
"I can't let those things happen though!" Aira said. "Please, just something else!"
"Make an offer!" Mistress growled. "But keep in mind that all of the Shrom species is at stake here!"

Aira thought for a moment. Mistress began to grow impatient. Finally the queen looked up. "I will give our kingdom's wealth."

A dark booming voice rumbled from the now-visible black clouds above. "I have no interest in money..."

Mistress stood aside as Aira stepped forward, looking up at the skies. "Brother... if you can hear me, let us have another chance. We are sorry for what we did to you! Just please spare us some forgiveness! Come back home, we'll love you again!" she spoke out to the Darkness.
"Again? I don't recall there being a before!" the voice shouted. "You are a liar Aira. If you remember, it was you who encouraged my oppressors to make my life miserable. You and your boyfriend Qraul... Which is why I killed him in his sleep just before I left Shrombolia..."
Aira's eyes widened with shock. "It... It was YOU?!" she shouted.
"Indeed, my sister... Shocked?"

"He's the only person I've ever truly loved! I've never found someone since him!" she yelled. Her eyes poured out with tears now. A laughing cackle came from the clouds. Finally a black shape formed in front of her, taking the final form of Lord Mallis slithering forward.
"My sister" Mallis said. She backed away, gasping in fear. "You have so much to learn about your very own brother... I am done with all of your regrets and apologies. The fact is... you will never receive the smallest ounce of my forgiveness. For how could I truly forgive with all of this sheer hatred breeding in my heart?" he asked.

Aira was shaking in fear. "Lovian... please" she begged. The clouds thundered, strikes of purple lightning struck the trees.

"MY NAME IS NOT LOVIAN!" Mallis shouted as it boomed throughout the hills. His claws clenched into menacing fists before he finally released the tight grips and let go. He continued. "There are but two things I will accept at this point in time... your surrender or your family's bloodshed. Now which will it be?"

"I wouldn't have come to this meeting if I would have known you were going to be so uncooperative, so impossible!" Aira said.

"But then you would have risked total destruction" Mallis argued.
"Can't you be a little more fair? Please, brother."

"I am no brother of yours anymore" he growled. "I am a new being. I've been remade. That which I once was is completely gone. I have been transformed in total."
"Can't you negotiate just a little though?" she asked. "Surely we can work this out."
Mallis crossed his arms impatiently. "Fine, make your offers. But they'd better be good. I'm quite picky..."

Aira took a moment of thought, seeing the impatience in Mallis' eyes. She finally spoke. "You can have control of all of our lands, just not the city."

"I do enjoy burning plants, but that's not good enough... I want more" Mallis said. Aira began to panic.

"Is there anything you'd like other than those two things?" she asked.

Mallis scowled. "What do you think?" he asked. He gave an annoyed huff, pulling his arms away from each other. "Go home, Aira and Drane. I've made up my mind. I don't want your surrender, I don't want the royal family's death. I'll take your kingdom on my own."
"Wait no!" Drane begged. Mallis growled.

"It's too late! Your difficult behavior has given me no choice! DIE!" he shouted as he flung a purple bolt of magic into Drane. She was flung back into the air several feet, about to roll down the hill before the soldiers caught her. Aira had screamed. Before anyone could respond to Mallis he had vanished with a huge cloud of smoke, a puff that spread all apart and dissipated.
Aira got on her knees to speak to her sister. Drane's eyes were droopy as blood spilled all over her body.

"DRANE! NO! NO!" Aira was screaming. Drane muttered out something soft, but understandable...

"Behind you."

Aira didn't have the time. The next thing she knew she was on the ground with a throbbing in her head. Her vision was blurry for a moment and a loud ringing noise in her ears. She saw the form of Mistress approaching slowly in the blur of her sight. But the creature was tackled by a soldier. Aira crawled back over to Drane, trying to shake her away... Drane looked to be okay. But there were dead soldiers falling behind her. She slowly got up and helped her sister stand. As Mistress was tearing apart the soldiers around her, the decided it was hopeless to help them and ran down the path as much as they could. As they made their way down it, a huge explosion rippled through the air atop the hill. Fires spread everywhere as smoke filled the skies.

"Good thing we got out of there when we did!" Drane said as she looked back. They helped each other walk as fast as they could. They tried to run, but their wounds were deep. Aira was still having trouble seeing and Drane was having trouble walking. Finally they made it back down to the end of the hill where extra soldiers were waiting for them.

"What happened?!" one shouted. They grabbed them both, placing them in a carriage that shot down the path and towards the city. The dark midnight sky above was ridden with doom. Aira didn't see a bright future coming any time soon...

Chapter Twenty Eight - Dark Rising

As Aira and Drane both sat down on two white beds in the medical bay of their castle, healers stood around them with their arms stretched out. Green vapors swirled all around them with light shooting into them. Strands of this light covered them and finally their wounds were gone. They sat up, Aira rushing too quickly.
"Your highness, you must rest!" one of the healers said.

"Absolutely no time for that! The Darkness is coming!" she said as she rushed through the hallways, Drane at her heels. They kept running and running until they had come to the throne room where Fanir and Hapel were waiting for them.

"What in Vald's name happened out there?!" Fanir said in panic.
"Mallis came. He attacked us. He's going to destroy the kingdom! We have to evacuate everyone before he arrives!" she shouted. Fanir's eyes widened.

"You're right, get everyone to the--" he stopped suddenly as the castle began shaking. A deep rumbling was the sound in the air and everything began to shake again.

"It's too late!" Hapel said. "He's here! Get ALL of our soldiers to their battle stations! Contact ALL of our allies! ALL of them!!" she shouted. Drane took to it and ran for the room where the Ultrahex was. Aira commanded the commanding soldiers standing in the room as they left through the door-less frame of the throne room and began their way outside. Rain slid on the windows from outside and thunder rattled the room.

"I'll go fetch the Elders!" Aira said as she began running. She left the room. Hapel and Fanir embraced each other, their fear stirred in them horribly. They were deeply afraid as they simply stared up at the newly repaired fogged windows behind the two throne seats. Suddenly a shadow swam up to the windows and as it approached it busted straight through them, shattering the glass everywhere with a loud crash. They screamed as it was an enormous black dragonic monster. The dragon was stranger than most dragons though. Its horns were imensely large and it had glowing purple eyes. It looked as though partly made out of Darksludge and it had several tails which were like long tendrils gripping the frames of the windows. The dragon had no legs, only arms and four long wings that shot from its backside. Enormous spikes crowned its shoulders and back and down its neck like a horse's mane, but dragonic and revolting. It had long fangs and drooled a strange purple glowing liquid.
It spoke with a deep, booming dragonic voice.

"FANIR AND HAPEL, FORMER KING AND QUEEN OF SHROMBOLIA... I BRING YOU YOUR DELIVERANCE FROM THIS LIFE BY ORDER OF DARK LORD MALLIS!" the monster shouted. It roared, rumbling the room.

Fanir stood in front of Hapel, ready to take the monster's blow. It blazed deep purple flames forward, but the flames were somehow stopped by something invisible in front of Fanir. An orange creature jumped out, Drane's fiance... Wylat. He wore armor and a long crimson cape. He stood now in front of his love's parents to defend them at all costs. The dragon narrowed its eyes.

"Wylat... I had forgotten about you... May you be just as Qraul, whom I killed and may you join him in the world of the dead!" it said as it blazed forth fires so hot they were white at the creature. Wylat befended himself with an invisible shield in front of him. But it was hard. He was nearly bending backwards from the force of the fire.
"Give up you inferior being!"

Wylat wouldn't give in. He was determined to protect Drane's parents--at all costs. He took a sword from its sheath. The sword was glowing in a strange scarlet aura and it shot forth a crimson ray into the dragon's eyes, nearly blinding it. The dragon screeched, its scream was loud enough to break stone amongst the walls. It was almost deafening.

Suddenly the dragon fell backwards out of the window frame and fell back into the skies. Wylat looked back at Fanir and Hapel who were running up to give him a hug. Just in their mid-run, something awful happened. The room rumbled like it had never before. The roof shook and crumbled and finally the entire roof was ripped off with an enormous boom. Debris and ashes were flung around everywhere like snow as purple flames lit the top ridges of the now torn in half walls. Rains poured down into the throne room from outside as they saw the dark clouds swirling directly above them in the skies. The dragon took seat on a ledge that used to be a wall, looking at Wylat with dark glares.

"You are a fool to ever believe you could protect them" the dragon said. "Join those before you and DDDIIIEEEEEE!!!" it shouted as its entire form blistered and cracked, light coarsing through the cracks and finally the dragon exploded. Thuds booming everywhere.
Two piercing purple eyes formed of flames appeared in the skies above, looking down at the throne room. A dark hand formed of black clouds shot down from the skies, grabbing Wylat and tossing him off into the distance. He flew threw the clouds, and finally falling. He saw a flash of bright light and he found himself gone.

Fanir looked up at the eyes. Rain stabbed his face. He was soaked in it now. "Lovian, you don't need to do this!" He shouted. The eyes were silent, simply glaring at him. "I'm sorry, I wasn't right to do so many horrible things to you. I wasn't aware of your deep suffering... Please, forgive me!"

The clouds spoke, a dark voice peering from them. "Your apologies mean nothing to me."

Fanir's face looked doomed. He was frightened. He didn't know what to do. Finally a shaft of black smoke shot from the skies, the purple eyes dissipating into thousands of fiery sparks and shards and scattering. The the foggy black shape came down onto the floor of the throne room and formed into a tall figure. The two former leaders were... horrified. They finally witnessed what Mallis truly looked like. They both felt like falling to their knees, but Fanir knew that it would lead to death. Before Hapel could fall to hers, he dragged her back up, keeping her behind him and shielded from his son.

Mallis laughed a loud tormenting laugh that was warped and distorted, sounding malevolent and wicked as ever. He was tall and towered a few feet above his parents.

"Father, Mother, behold your son!" he shouted. The ground below him trembling and shaking. Fanir felt the vibrations, growing weak and weary and afraid. He and Hapel began backing away, slowly towards the side the door would have been on. Mallis slithered forward, looking at them with great intentions of harm. It was at this point that Drane had crawled out from the rubble and looked at them. Her eyes were wide as she witnessed Mallis and she drew a long, glowing sword from her side. Mallis held his claws out, making a clutching motion with them as they shot forward. Suddenly black clouds shot down from the skies in a tornado fashion, ripping the sides of the rubble away and as they came up from behind Drane, she vaporized into thousands of shards of ashes and fire, sucking up into the vortex and into the skies.

"NOOO!!!!" Hapel shouted. Fanir's eyes were horror-struck and in tears. Hapel looked at her son with anger. "YOU MONGREL HOW COULD YOU?!" she shouted. Tears shot from her eyes. She knew deep in her heart... it was over. Mallis looked at them, slightly in joy. That was his coating, but deep inside... he was dieing. His heart was breaking, even in his evil, corrupt form. He suddenly scowled.

"Look at what you've done! Look at what you've done!" Mallis shouted with insanity in his tongue. Fanir looked at him darkly.

"Lovian, this is YOUR doing! YOURS!" he shouted.

"Don't push this off on me! If you hadn't treated me the way you had, Decay never would have given me those powers! He never would have noticed me as a candidate for a Darkling! You could have had an Immortal as a king! An Immortal! But you threw it all away! You THREW IT AWAY!! Now look at where it has gotten you! Your abuse has led to your downfall, blood is flooding your streets right now! My Darklings are raining thick as a blizzard now, cutting apart every living soul in all of Shrombolia! The few who escape will only live to tell the tale of how powerful the Darkness is, and its ruler!"

"Lovian! Stop this! This is madness! You know this is wrong!" Fanir shouted.
"STOP CALLING ME LOVIAN!" he shouted, his voice booming out and flashing like fire. He looked at his father in the eyes. "I am no longer that puny, inferior child. I am not Lovian, lover of peace. I am Mallis, speaker of death!"

"Death is not the way! You know! You know this is wrong!" Fanir said pointing at Mallis.
"This may be wrong, but the ending result of this is what is right..." said Mallis. "The end of Shrombolia, something that will drive the world of Keros to a much, much healthier eon..."
"Mallis, why do this? Fight me, don't punish all of these innocent people!" Fanir begged.
"It's too late for that Dad, your daughters already sealed the deal! I offered them that, but they turned it down! They'd never give up our poor, dilluded father..." Mallis said stalking forward. "Now, tonight... I end this" he shouted. He gave out an enormous screech as his claws shot forward, forming a ray that blazed ahead like lightning. A purple stroke of powerful lightning that bolted to Fanir. The former king held up his arms, forming an invisible shield of magic in front of him. But it seemed nearly impossible to defend himself. He was constantly walking backwards, trying hard not to let Mallis win. Hapel moved out of the way, hiding behind what was left of a pillar.

Finally Fanir's shield shattered and he jumped to the side to avoid the power of the lightning bolt which caused an explosion of fire in the place it struck. Mallis shot a tendril from under him at Fanir, pulling him closer. He began punching his father, clawing him too. Fanir fought back, making blows to Mallis' face. But nothing seemed to phase the overlord. Nothing harmed him. He took the hits and returned to his brutal strikes. With both hands he grabbed Fanir by the throat, choking him as he lifted him up into the air. Fanir was trying to catch breath but he couldn't, Mallis was simply too strong. Hapel jumped out from the pillar, pushing Mallis over. He lost his grip of his Dad. But as he was toppled over, his lower body shot into a display of many tendrils that grabbed Hapel as she tried to pull away to Fanir. The tendrils wrapped around her, squeezing her tightly. She struggled, trying to escape. But it was useless. Her son was simply too strong.

Chapter Twenty Nine - Starlight

Hapel gasped as she was being brutally tangled by Mallis' many tendrils. He managed to choke her, holding her in front of him as Fanir stood up.

"Dare to attack me now, my king?" Mallis asked. He cackled. "You'll just hit my beloved mommy" he giggled. Hapel gritted her teeth.

"Sweetheart... Don't hesitate. Kill him!" she said. Mallis laughed.

"He doesn't have the guts!" the dark overlord spat. Hapel gave a long, meaningful look to Fanir. She even seemed to smile for a moment. Tears began pouring from her eyes. She gave a look to Fanir that suggested that everything was going to be okay.

"Sweetie... I love you" she said. At last she let out a sharp scream as Mallis had plunged his claws completely through her stomach. They had coursed through her body, sticking completely through her. His arm shot through her ribs from behind, coming out through the front as blood sprayed everywhere. She was screaming.

"NOOO!!!" Fanir shouted as he blazed a thick green fire at Mallis' face behind Hapel, trying his best not to hurt his wife. Mallis slid back, losing his grip of his mother. Fanir scrambled forward and came to his wife who was now on the ground. He held her with his arms. She looked at him with a smile.

"Fanir, everything w-w-will be o-okay... R-run while y-you can-n... J-J-J... Just know that I l-love you..." she said.

Fanir's eyes were pouring out tears. "I love you too. So much... I can't live without you Hapel" he said. Mallis was picking himself up.

"Nor will you have to, my father" he snarled as he shot a blaze of purple from his fingertips, coarsing into Fanir's body and shooting him back several meters. Blood was pouring out from Fanir at all angles. His bones felt like rubber that had been cut. His blood slowly seeped out and painfully. His vision became blurry for several moments and many loud ringing noises were in his head... Until Mallis came up and the ringing and bluriness stopped. Mallis towered over his father, looking down at him in the eyes. He bent over and pulled his father up by the neck. Blood spilled out like a waterfall as Fanir rose up. He tried to see if Hapel was okay, but as he looked over Mallis' shoulder he could see the gray in her and could tell that the life had finally left her body. He gave out a loud, mournful cry. Mallis began choking him tighter, much tighter. Fanir couldn't breathe. His face was turning every shade of blue and red there was. Finally Mallis dropped him, slashing him in the face. Fanir was picking himself up, trying to survive. But part of him just wanted to quit and let Mallis kill him. He wanted to be with his wife, but this was no way to go. He didn't want to die a slow, torturous death. He'd rather die quickly and suddenly... not like this.

Mallis was grinning all of a sudden. He shot a bolt of purple out again at Fanir, the former king caught it with another shield. He held it tightly, tightly. But he could see lines of light cracking in front of him, the shield was slowly breaking. Finally it shattered, the lightning too fast for Fanir to dodge this time. It coursed into him and surged throughout him until his certain parts of his body blast apart into a horrific display of ashes flying everywhere and blood. Some of the blood was vaporized, becoming a strange, thick red smoke that filled the air. Fanir fell to the ground as his face melted away, his skin rippling away from his body and blood flinging everywhere. At last Mallis stood over the carnage he'd performed over his parents. He eyed their remains, however slim. Finally he made a gesture with his claws and suddenly red vaporized blood, the scarlet smoke shot into two huge columns from their bodies, shooting up into the skies. They created a huge cloud of red that formed all around the throne room and spilled down across all of the royal palace. A signal of the royals' deaths.

The surviving people in the city looked up at the cloud of red with horror. They had an idea of what it meant... death. Death of Fanir and Hapel and perhaps Aira and Drane. But Aira wasn't dead just yet...

She was running down a hallway of the royal palace, not quite just there yet. The main path to the Elders' temple had been destroyed. She had to take the long route through the palace to the temple. But suddenly the hallway behind her exploded with a flash of purple. She gasped, looking back behind her to see her brother forming in the corridor. He looked up at her, snarling. She screamed, running as fast as she could forward. Mallis slid like a high-speed snake down the hallways. He swept by like a fish in water, slinging past things with ease and lighting the hallways on fire as he did so. Aira was screaming, so afraid. Finally she had made it to the enormous door that led into the Elders' temple and she broke the lock with her own fists. Adrenaline fed her super strength it seemed and she burst into the room. The doors shut. She heard a loud thud as Mallis had crashed into them. She pushed over a huge statue in front of the door to block him. The doors bulged out as he was ramming into them. She kept running out, the immediate plaza in the room was enormous and there were portals and magical artifacts and fixtures everywhere.

When Mallis had realized he couldn't simply ram through it, he tried something else. Aira caught sight of the doors blasting open with an explosion of fire, the statue crumbling apart into thousands of tiny crumbs. Mallis slithered into the room, his fists at his side. They were flaming. Mallis screeched.

"Where do you think you're going?" asked Mallis. Aira panicked. The Elders weren't anywhere to be found. Where could they have been? She had no choice. She looked at the portal on the other side of the room. It was a large archway with a strange silver and lavender light that took the shape of a liquid swimming around in the midst of the archway. Mallis knew exactly what she was thinking and he knew all about the Elders' power to move to other realms. It looked as though they'd used this portal to escape earlier.

"Oh no you don't!" Mallis snarled in a very frightening way. Aira ran forward, but was caught by Mallis's tendrils which dragged her back.

"You weren't up in the throne room, WHY?!" Mallis shrieked.

"I was getting the Elders, they will stop you" Aira said.

"The Elders? They abandoned you Aira! They left for the realm of Vadus long before I even got here! They're nothing but a bunch of cowards! Even the Allure Elders have deserted their people!" he shouted.

"What?" Aira murmured, unable to believe what she was hearing. "But they can't abandon us!"
"They can and they DID" Mallis shouted. He began to choke her with his tendrils. "You missed out on a lot up in the throne room! You didn't get to see me plunge the life out of your parents and your beloved sister. And who knows what happened to her fiance, I scooped him up and threw him into the horizon. He's gone now! Dead! They're all gone!"

"NO! NO! NO!" Aira screamed. Her eyes flooded. She struggled, but during Mallis' laughing he got distracted and she managed to break free of his tentacles.

"Don't you dare try to leave you coward!" he shouted as he tripped her by grabbing her ankle with his tendril. She grabbed onto part of a statue, keeping hold of it as Mallis tried to pull her back. She grabbed a strange glowing green and yellow jewel from a table just next to her and threw it back at Mallis. It hit him with a flash. His tentacle released Aira as he screamed. Green flames singed him for a moment or two and finally vanished. His boils and burns quickly healed, he regenerated himself and looked at Aira. She had grabbed a much larger glowing black and lavender stone on the table which she figured was important due to the way it was placed on a stand and polished perfectly. She jumped for the portal, rushing through it as fast as she could and as she did so she kicked into the sides, sealing it shut. The liquid of light vanished from in the middle. She last caught a glimpse of Mallis flinging himself at the portal, reaching... trying to get into the portal. But he failed. He slammed against the empty archway, swiping at it and trying to get inside. But he was enraged. Black clouds spat from under him, swelling up all over the room. In rage he blasted flames and light at the archway, tearing it apart. The entire temple was slowly ripped inch from inch into a giant pile of ruin...

Mallis lifted high above the kingdom of Shrombolia, overlooking all of it. He growled angrily. He wished he'd managed to kill Aira. He would never stop searching for her. He had to make sure every person in his family was annihilated.

He watched slowly as the Darkness came down from the skies and began to consume the land below. The buildings were slowly detonated, ravaged and torn apart by flames and blackness. Mallis could see on the edges of the horizon a few groups of Shrom survivors, making their hasty escape for the kingdom. He decided to let them run. They'd spread word of his dark power to the rest of the world. Slowly the entire kingdom was ripped apart by billions of bolts of thunderous clouds that came down and consumed everything. Everything was burnt and rumbled and ripped apart. Things exploded on every corner until the land below was simply a boiling black cloud that swirled round and round. The red cloud of blood had now gone, becoming food as well for the Darkness. Mallis was done and flew up into the skies...

General Information

Name: Mallis
Nickname/Title/Alias: Mallis, Lord Mallis.

Gender: Male
Age: Unknown

Appearance

Height: Constantly changing
Physical Appearance:
Mallis has a very ominous look. His form is made entirely of black magic which usually appears as a type of solidified (or in some cases, liquid or gaseous) shadow. Many characterize it as black slime, or liquid shadow which is constantly morphing. He also has a share of black smoke and vapors mixed with this "slime". Though Mallis has no primary form, he usually takes the shape of a Darkling Shrom. A tall creature with a large hood-like or cobra-like cap over his head that slides down his back resembling hair. This, among Shroms, is called a "Crown" or a "Flaid" as is the medical term. Mallis has enormous claws on the tips of his fingers, which can cause horrendous damage as they are his prime weapon of magic. As his form constantly morphs, he at times grows tendrils that he uses to strangle his enemies with.

Attire: Nothing

Personality:
Since Mallis' corruption during his late adolescence, he has been nothing but evil. The word 'evil' is the best term to use. There is nothing about the word that Mallis is not. He is selfish, depraved, ruthless, and deadly. The only person he seems to show the slightest care to is his "daughter", Dalia, who hates him and does her best to kill him.

Outward Personality: Not only is Mallis evil on the inside, he's evil on the outside. He doesn't care for the lives of the innocent. To him, they are but food for him and his Darklings. Mallis will outwardly state how weak someone is, and how powerful he is. He will put them down and cast them into a vortex of despair with all his might.

Innate Personality: Mallis has the mind of many evils. He is psychotic, murderous, hateful, vengeful, and unforgiving. He only cares about his own life and that of the Darklings and the Darkness, which is the only reason he's still alive today. He will do anything to keep himself and the Darkness alive, and will kill anyone in his way without shedding a tear. He feels no remorse or pity for his victims. But he is always psychotically laughing at them unless he himself is weakened. When Mallis is angry, all is doomed.

History/Bio: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Relationships

Family:
Siblings: Sybil, Bani, Aira, Drane, Limp
Parents: King Fanir, Queen Hapel
(All presumed to be dead)

Friends: None
Enemies: Everyone not among the Darkness
Lovers: Many consider Thage, but no real title has been placed over the relationship.

Equipment

Tools: Magic
Weapons: Magic
Other Items: Magic

Abilities: There is no real way to explain it, since Mallis in full power can do literally anything.

Powers: There is no real way to explain it, since Mallis in full power can do literally anything. However when not, usually he has large quantities of combat and absorption magic. His favorites are purple lightning bolts and gouts of Darkness.

Weaknesses/Drawbacks/Limitations: When Mallis enters a new realm, he enters in a state of complete weakness. All of his big powers are taken away, leaving him to regain them as he begins consuming life in the world.

Mallis' emotions are everything. Try affect how he looks, how he acts, how his powers work. Everything is linked to his emotions. And certain things happen with certain emotions. Some harm him, and some strengthen him.
