| THIRST Welcome to Thirst, the horror themed sci-fi/dystopian RP I'm planning to use to help get this place started again (hopefully). It involves "vampires", superpowers, and war. Read on! - Prologue:
"Hell, if I had eyes as pretty as those I'd be back home in some bar skeezing off of cheap bottom-feeding degenerates. Not here with you, madam," spat a mouth bathed in thick, red, coppery blood. The bitter scent of brimstone expanded as a thick smoke pounded from the man's lips. He clutched a ripe cigar in one of his hands, gloved in studded leather.
The man´s face was hidden in the night, only a soft impression illuminated by the dying light of the end of the cigar. But clearly the young lady could make out cold, dead eyes. Sour scarlet irises. A strange bloody brown color, complimented viciously by the luminescence of the fire in front of his face. The man brushed a lock of thick, whitish blonde hair from out in front of his face. Quite remarkably, the man's right ear manifested some anomalies. It was clipped, damaged, and had healed erroneously.
"I know you, I know everything about you. You're one of those pampered pricks from the White House." said the man. "You never witnessed the full onslaught of the Knights. You don't even know how twisted humans really are. Pathetic little..."
"Shut the hell up, monster," the woman said, feeling against the brick wall she was pushed up against, and thrusting him further back with her hand. In the minute illumination, the man could just barely make out her weaving red hair and blue eyes. The eyes of a human, stirring the most starved lusts within him.
"Monster? That's rude. Jeez," he said, finally tossing the cigar. He wiped the blood from his chin, simultaneously smearing it across his cheeks. "You humans are so inconsiderate. Revenants have feelings too, y'know. That exciting stuff is just plain hurtful."
The woman winced as blood drops touched her face. "Who are you? And what in God's name do you want with me?" she asked.
"I like you," said the man, "Right to the point. Cutting to the chase. You see, I'm not some common gangbanger or punk of the streets like I'm sure you imagine. You probably think I'm some adolescent delinquent out here, in the alleys of D.C. But no. My name is Mallory. I'm a Revenant, although you already know that from watching me suck the pretty red life force from your pal," he said, chuckling as he gestured to the shape bulging from the shadows along the ground. "What I want with you? Well, I know who you are. You're with the Knights. I recognize you. You were alongside Jon Helvont when he took back the White House and the other federal buildings. You helped him."
"No, no that wasn't me. I'm not a Knight, obviously..." she said, her voice beginning to grow less confident.
"Don't you lie to me, lady," Mallory said, grabbing her by the shirt and pounding her against the wall at her backside. "You're faking your weakness, so when I let my guard down, you slide whatever hidden blade you have down my gullet, or shoot a thick piece of lead through my temples. I'm no dummy! You humans have been hunting my friends for years. I've seen every trick you have up your sleeve. Now answer me honestly, before I satisfy my parched tongue with your blood. Where is Helvont, and the Knights? Where have they taken Seneca?"
"Seneca is dead," said the lady.
"No!" Mallory said, bashing her against the wall again. "That old bastard is deathless. You can't expect me to believe that. Tell me the truth! Where is Helvont? Where is Seneca!"
"I told you already!" she said, blasting Mallory in the face with five knuckles. He staggered back, letting go of her. "Seneca is dead. Helvont... he's hiding somewhere. The White House isn't safe for him, with talk of a mole somewhere inside. The entire place is on lock-down until they figure it out."
"How... how did they kill Seneca," said Mallory, grumbling as he gained his footing. "What the hell did they have to do to him?"
"I don't know the details," she responded, her body coming into the light. "I just know they declared him dead." The light unveiled her leather coat and combat boots, a huge machete strapped to her side. Revealed subsequently was the enormous scar under her left eye, stretching all the way down to the base of her throat. Purplish, wiggly, deeper on her face and shallower at the throat.
"Jesus, lady," Mallory said. "Maybe you oughta stay out of the bars after all. You really expect me to believe you aren't a Knight now?"
"Shut the hell up and leave," she said, whipping her arm in vine-like fashion to unearth a long-barreled revolver from her side. Its eye pointed directly at Mallory. "You're going to turn around now, leave, and don't you dare come back for me. You're lucky I'm even considering letting you live, with as much trouble as you've given us. Now go."
- Synopsis:
Washington D.C. is not the grand city it used to be. About a decade ago, in the year 2023, a groundbreaking phenomenon changed the face of America forever. An eerie outbreak of a strange germ or algae formed in the water supplies of the country's biggest cities. The water turned red instantly. Authorities instructed the populaces to refrain from drinking it at all costs, as it was highly poisonous. However, the water somehow emitted a strange odor which would stimulate hormones in the brains of various individuals, causing illogical urges to drink the water, despite the bottled water and supplies given by the National Guard.
Thousands perished in a matter of weeks. No one could resist the strange brain-washing smell of the water in their pipes, in their sinks, and soon in their drinks. Some characterize it as a rosy smell, but far more powerful, and far more addictive.
The dead were heaped into facilities for testing. The CDC ordered that all victims be trucked away to be studied. Despite outcry from families, the bodies of their loved ones were piled up and shipped away for a few months. The morgues were filled. Then, strangely, as though overnight, they were emptied. The stainless steel beds and tables were suddenly unmanned. The pitter-patter of bare feet sounded throughout the halls. The dead walked.
Only this was not your typical zombie flick. These weren't your usual resurrected fiends. The stiffness of corpse life was dissipated. There was no rot. No decay. Not even a sign that they were once dead. In fact, they seemed more alive than ever. Their bodies seemed somehow altered, strengthened. They could jump like grasshoppers, punch through solid stone. Their speed increased. They even developed strange abilities otherwise deemed impossible.
They called these individuals Revenants.
However, the Revenants were not like normal humans. While powerful, and equally intelligent, they were driven by a strange blood lust. They were by all means, vampiric. In order to sustain their lives, they were forced to leech off of the blood of humans.
The red water could sustain them, and keep them alive, but it could not empower them or fuel their abilities. Some Revenants chose not to feast on humans, and became more compassionate for them. They would live off of the water, but this would only keep them alive. Their bodies became famished, weak, and they lost all of their special abilities. Eventually, nearly a year or so down the line of living off of it, they would again thirst for human blood.
The Revenants had no recollection of their past lives. Some woke from their slumber having blank minds, while others possessed strange fragments and pieces of their memories. They would be left to make sense of them however they could.
================================================================================== - Our World:
America has been under a civil war between the Revenants and humans for around a decade. Most of the country is in a dystopian, ruined state. Washington D.C. has been the largest scene of warfare. A failed evacuation attempt left it in complete chaos, which it has not recovered from in all these years. The weakest of humans were killed quickly. However, those more resilient are still surviving and attempting to keep their families alive and safe.
Safe Zones and Districts Most federal buildings have acted as safe zones for humans. The White House and the Capitol Building, specifically. Many other safe zones have been erected and built to keep Revenants out, and are heavily guarded. Gated communities have emerged, and are usually found near said federal buildings. D.C. has been divided into 72 districts, with District 55 holding the White House and Capitol Building.
The Knights For some time, there were no safe zones. However, a league of elite fighters--some military, some not--assembled to clear large sectors of the city, to create them. This league was called the Knights. The destruction of the American government and the disarray in the military left the Knights to manage humanity as well as they could.
The Knights are led by a collection of twelve individuals, who call themselves, "the Knights of the Round Table," and reside within the White House. They are the highest rank of Knight. Below them is the rank of Paladin, a title denoting mastery of Revenant combat. A Paladin may only be crowned once he or she has killed several hundred Revenants or otherwise displayed an extreme handle on combat.
Round Table ("Royals") > Paladins > Knights
Knights, essentially, are more or less vampire hunters, for lack of a better term. They are skilled killers of Revenants and use tough weaponry to make themselves equals to the creatures.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Revenants Revenants, as said before, are vampiric. They may live off of the red water, which is still prevalent in the city, but they would lose all power and livelihood without feeding from humans.
Revenant Physiology
Revenants are much stronger, more capable and durable, and far more inept and in-touch with their senses than humans. They can leap and jump greater distances, punch with more power, run with greater speed, etc. They can usually smell various scents at great distances, and have heightened sight capabilities.
Furthermore, Revenants are given a much more unique biology. Their mouths are equipped with retractable fangs, however a few large, hollow tendrils will often slide from their mouths and pierce the throat of their prey. These tendrils are equipped with bladed ends and will suck blood from a human with ease. Although Revenants usually get their fix from just a portion of human blood, they are more than capable of draining the human body of it entirely. Their tendrils (called "vipers") are capable of expanding to allow larger amounts of blood to flow through, at quicker paces.
When a Revenant does this, it is called a "gorge." Consuming this amount of blood in such a short span of time will often create a state of intoxication. A "blood-high" for lack of a better term. For those who are new to gorging, it will cause swelling of the body until the Revenant is used to it.
After one feed, Revenants will be sustained for around a week. However, the more blood they consume, the more powerful they become. Some see this as reason to feed more and more, and are thus known as "Gluttons."
Revenants, though vampires, are not killed by sunlight. They are, however, agitated by it. It serves as an aggravation to them and may be harmful to their skin, but it cannot kill them, unless they are exposed to an extreme amount of it or to massive quantities of light or heat.
Revenant eyes are abnormal. In cases when a Revenant looks more human, the eyes can be a way to distinguish them. The irises are often yellow, amber, or the most common: blood red. The rarest eye coloring is white and/or silver. The sclera often match the irises with complimenting hues of blue, gray, purple, black, yellow, red, etc.
Revenant Abilities Revenants are given several strange abilities. These abilities include, in order from most common to least common:
- Telekinesis
- Slow physical regeneration
- Pain Transfer A wounded Revenant is given the ability to transfer their pain into another human. However, this only transfers pain. It does not actually transfer the wound and the user can still die. This also works with sickness and the symptoms can be transferred, although the actual pathogens cannot be.
- Telepathy
- Hallucination Inducement
- Hemokinesis Blood can be manipulated. A Revenant can solidify blood into blades or other objects. They can use their own blood or some from the area around them. They cannot manipulate blood within someone else, until it has detached from them.
- Pyrokinesis
- Umbrakinesis Manipulation of light and dark. Can create fields of darkness, solidify darkness or the light, etc.
- Very limited gravity manipulation Making things heavier or lighter, only slightly. Enough to hold a person captive by their own weight, held to the ground.
- Limited flight
-------- The following powers are only present in the most powerful Revenants:
- Shapeshifting Using proteins from the rest of their body, they may rearrange their physiology. This power is very, very rare.
- Mind control/Memory manipulation User can implant thoughts into a person, persuade them, drive them to insanity, etc. Create false images and memories. A form of telepathy. They can implant different empathetic feelings on a person.
- Memory Consumption Absorb the memories of other people
-True Hemokinesis The ability to control the blood within other people
- Unique abilities A variety of rare, random, and unknown abilities. This is the rarest power.
(I am open to lots of other power possibilities, that fit in the first half of the list. So long as they are relatively weak. Revenants are already really strong without powers.)
----------
Revenant Memories Revenants wake up either with no memories of their past life or some. Never all of them. Although usually the only memories that are missing are ones that deal with their identity or self concept. Most language processing centers of their brains are left untouched. Thus, the Revenant can speak and understand the world around them perfectly, but they have no idea who they are.
However, in some cases, a Revenant is left with a large collection of random memories that they cannot understand, and must make sense of them on their own. This often causes more confusion and depression than those who remember nothing.
Since many wake up not knowing their names, they often let other Revenants name them, come up with names on their own, or, in many cases, pick a word or name that they hear or see somewhere in their environment and go by it. (Example: a Revenant who wakes up in a toy store might see a "sally doll" and decide to go by the name Sally.)
Revenant Transformation Any human that is bitten by a Revenant will become infected and subsequently transform into one. Unless, of course, the Revenant drains them completely of blood or kills them. Revenants contain a strange parasite in their blood which infects and assimilates any blood that is foreign to it.
As Revenants feed upon a human, some of their parasites detach into the human bloodstream. After the feeding has ended, the human will be forced into a deep sleep. Their blood will begin to assimilate, being rejected by the body. However, it will be too overwhelming for the body to handle. The heart will stop, and the victim will inevitably die. Then, regeneration and rewiring occurs. The body, for around ten hours, undergoes transformation and augmentation. A layer of silk will produce from the victim's skin, it will then harden and thicken. The body then undergoes massive changes underneath, and once finished, the silk will dampen and dissipate.
Two Revenants that conceive a child will obviously conceive another Revenant. However, if a Revenent and a human mate (an extremely, extremely rare case) the offspring will be a strange hybrid: a human, though capable of many of the same powers of a Revenant. These hybrids are called Mutts.

================================================================================== - Rules:
These rules have been put in place not only to keep the order of the RP, but also to increase its quality and make it a better project overall. Game MastersA Game Master (GM) is someone who manages an RP. It is often the person or people who have made the RP. Their word as far as the RP goes, is final. - Darkel/Akira Behavior
- All forum guidelines apply. That means no flaming, spamming, arguing, etc.
- All disputes will be settled by the Game Masters. If it becomes a problem, moderators may step in.
Character Entering
- I'm going to be very lax about your character's power, but if we see them as too much or too powerful in any way, we will have to regulate them.
- If you enter an "evil" character, please make sure that they are realistic and have motives and backstories, and other things which may contribute to their twisted world views. No bad guys who are merely bad for the sake of being bad. If a character is "insane", please also be realistic about it and explain why.
- If you have read all the rules, write "Blood" in the "Key" section of the character sheet.
OOC Conduct
- Please do not give away any spoilers to plotlines you know about that are meant to be kept secret.
- Discuss the RP in a civil manner.
IC Conduct
- No god-modding, meta-gaming, powerplay, spotlighting, etc. Basic RP etiquette, not hard to follow. If you don't know what these are, there should be guides in the stickies. Basically, be considerate of the other players.
- No killing other peoples' characters without their permission. If you have their permission, have at it.
- PLEASE no auto-ing. This means writing out the damage that an attack inflicts on a character instead of allowing the other player to determine how bad it hurts their character.
- PLEASE no mary-sue/gary-stu characters (characters that are "perfect" or don't change at all as people in the RP).
- Please use character development, at least for the very main characters that you use in the RP.
- This is a literate RP. Please use proper spelling, grammar, caps, etc. Please post at least 1 paragraph per post (4 or 5 sentences).
Some things to be aware of:
- In this RP, people will die. There will be a large deal of action.
- Some mature themes may be involved (ex: gore, drugs, violence, etc). However please don't go overboard.
- Characters are allowed to curse, however please try not to overdo it.
- Sex is allowed between characters, to an extent. Have people use their imagination.
RP STARTING POSITION:Humans start in the safe zone wherein the White House and Capitol Building are settled (District 55). Revenants start in the city outside of it. If you have any other concerns, please PM a Game Master.

| I am normally not that into vampire rps anymore (having a course over the origins of the vampire in literature changed my opinions towards most modern uses of the term, haha), but this plot sounds pretty interesting. I'm game <3 | |

Sweet lol. Yeah I tried to make them as un-clique-vampirey as I possibly could. Of course I intend the pathogen/parasite to change throughout the story, which will affect the Revenants. | |

| For the sake of plot facilitation, I’m not going to make sheets for certain characters. But the ones I can, I will, starting with this one:
General Information Alias: Mallory Sex: Male Age: 24
Faction Species: Revenant
Appearance: Height: 6’4 Weight: 160 lbs Physical Description: Mallory is a tall, slender man with a very tight, muscular build. His lack of body fat gives him a more chiseled look. His skin is of a fair pigment, and has many scars poured out on it. Most are slashes, gashes, and other marks. The majority are on his back, forearms, and neck area. The most brutal of these scars is a pair of slashes running across his face, hooking the edges of his right eye. One of the lines clips the edge of his lip, though this is barely noticeable. His eyes take on the common Revenant’s. The irises are a deep scarlet, and the sclera take on hues of amber and gold. His facial features appear chiseled and direct, with angular shapes. One of his ears is also clipped.
Mallory has long hair that touches the middle of his back. It is a very light blonde color, and one would mistake it for being bleached.
Mallory also has an array of claws. Like many Revenants, he chooses to allow the more animalistic biological traits of his species take over. He leaves his nails uncut, letting them transform his fingertips into talons—even altering the very bone structure of them. However, he keeps them trimmed enough that he can still pull triggers and shoot guns with ease.
Attire: Mallory, as a street denizen, usually wears whatever is flashy, attention-getting, and intimidating. He is particularly fond of leather, and most of his clothing is one form of leather or another. His pants are always black, and likewise sleek. And he often goes shirtless, though sporting any one of his black jackets. Some are leather, some are fur, etc. When he does wear a shirt, it is usually a red, pink, white, or purple button-up. However, he usually always wears a necklace of some sort. Often times sporting a thread with a crucifix, several keys and a few shark teeth strung on it.
He often wears finger-less gloves, nothing short of what a biker would wear. Finally, thick-soled combat boots of any sort. Though, of course, leather.
Personality Outward Personality: Mallory is a street pimp. He’s not ashamed of it. Rather, he embraces his sins. He rules the streets, dominating them. Over the years he has accumulated a large following, an impressive gang of misfits and vagabonds. And he’s the leader of them all. After so many years of it, it’s gotten to his head. He has a swollen ego, unmatched by anyone else’s self-love. Above all things he is prideful, cocky, selfish, materialistic. However, he carries weight to his cockiness. He’s not a dog with a bark and no bite. There is a reason he’s feared, after all. He’s proven to be an extremely dangerous Revenant. Not because of his powers, but rather his sheer strength and craftiness. Although he does possess some level of power.
Inward Personality: Mallory is a control freak. He’s always been insanely insecure about his surroundings. It’s something he developed after his Awakening. He simply needs to be in charge. It’s the only way he feels secure. He has to win. He has to be number one. To him, life is all about gaining. But he is reckless, and he knows this about himself. Self control and personal restraint is something he wrestles with daily. He often uses his number-two’s and underlings to help ground him. After all, two heads are better than one.
Skills: Other than intimidation, Mallory’s other talents include a knack for throwing darts (which he absolutely loves to do), smoking an entire pack of cigarettes in a day, driving motorcycles, and riding skateboards. Also, he’s a rather great artist. He spends his down time painting alleyways, just out of boredom. And not that ghetto spray paint—if spray paint is used, it’s used tastefully.
Miscellaneous Key: Blood
